I will tell you where they live and how they live. I will tell you about our girls doing what they want during the day. I will tell you that if we didn’t have the door on the trailer, we wouldn’t have chickens because we’re never home before dark to lock them up, and chances are a predator would get them. I will tell you we lose chickens because they are prey animals and they get to go wherever they want and, therefore, we can’t protect them from all predators. I will tell you we do the best we can. I will sell you eggs if you decide you want to buy ours. I will do it on the merits of our operation. I will not compare eggs. I will not put other producers down. Our eggs and beef are sold based on the way they were raised, not because of fear mongering. Did you know that if you make more than $32,000 per year, you are most likely in the top 1 percent of wage earners in the world? Next, fewer than 2 percent of us are involved in produc- tion agriculture in America. The average American is at least three generations removed from the farm. So, we have the top 1 percent of wage earners in the world who are 3 generations removed from the farm, raising babies in a world of online perfection. There are more bloggers, Pinterest, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram posts to tell us how we are raising our children wrong, how we are eating wrong and how we are gener- ally terrible human beings if we aren’t doing things their way. I have a blog that focuses on marriage and agriculture through #marriagemon- daytpstyle and #farmfridaytpstyle . I’m proud of my efforts promoting every- thing we do on our family farm and how we’re working our hind ends off keeping our marriage strong and healthy while we do it. I work really hard to put out what, why and how we are doing our lives without judgement. I was clear with that from the beginning – I am not an expert and refuse to say my way is the right or only way. This is what we’re lacking in the mar- keting world today. We are blasted from every side about everything, from what kind of makeup we should be wearing, the cars we should be driving, the foods we should be consuming to how we should be living our lives and raising our babies. We have been taught through some highly successful companies and influencers that organic is best, that no one should eat gluten and, for the love of all things good and holy, if you eat a steak that was finished on GMO corn you are going straight to the deepest parts of hell. I say B.S.! I say I’m super proud of the products we raise. Everything from the soybeans that go straight to an elevator to the non-GMO corn that is fed through cattle in our feedyards. I’m proud of the cow-calf operation we have. I’m proud that I get to live the life that I do. I’m proud of all these things. I know that I feel and live my best life when I’m Continued on page 45
