42 CALF News • December 2021 | January 2022 • www.calfnews.net Hummel Remembered Gatherings 26th Annual World Championship Ranch Rodeo Veale Ranch/Allen Cattle Co., of Weatherford and Friona, Texas, harnessed world champion honors at the Working Ranch Cowboys Association’s (WRCA) 26th Annual World Championship Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo Nov. 11-14. They scored the highest among 22 ranches that qualified for the finals from across the nation. Reserve champion was Singleton Ranches of Lamy, N.M. Slash W Cattle Co., of Texico, N.M., placed third. The Top Hand Award went to Troy Higgs of Lonesome Pine Ranch of Cedar Point, Kan. Tens of thousands of rodeo fans rode to Amarillo for the WRCA mega event. WRCA’s inaugural Youth World Championship Ranch Rodeo was a big draw. Circle M8 Land & Cattle of Salado, Texas, was crowned champion. Reserve honors went to Nutrition Plus of Canyon, Texas. As a regular attraction, the Budweiser Clydesdales appeared at all four WRCA performances. Also popular was the annual trade show that featured everything from all forms tack to tuxedoes to spruce up any western event. For more on WCRA results visit wrca.org . Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership (KARL) program class XV member is CALF’s very own Jessica Ebert. She had an exceptional KARL Domestic Study Tour to Lincoln, Neb., the first week of November with a stop in Marysville, Kan., at Landoll. They learned about new and innovative ways companies are encouraging and inspiring a culture of entrepreneurship.
