Looking back on 2018, not much happened toward the last few days of the year other than two exciting things. The first was a long-awaited return trip to Hawaii! Learning to kiteboard and sitting on the beach was very nice. While we were away, some family friends graciously took care of our animals and even helped deliver the first baby of the new show season! Razzy was the trooper mama that couldn’t wait for the new year to pop out a baby girl. Speaking of baby calves, the new year started off with three more baby calves (so far) before there were 10 days in the year! They include a baby bull from Julia weighing in at a show- stopping 97 lbs., a baby girl from Zuri and another baby girl from Harley. This year will be especially exciting considering that we could hit double digits for baby calves! And since we don’t tag, we might have to get creative to be able to tell all of these black baby calves apart! Coming off of celebrations (with more to come) I decided to celebrate my Maintainer bull Tuff ’s birthday! He was turning 2 years old! I usually don’t celebrate my animals’ birthdays or events, but I thought that he would enjoy it (and he did). We Bring Information and Management Together! Right now I have four bulls: Tuff, Jackson (will be 1-year-old Red Angus), Walker (will be 1-year-old Maine) and Pepperjack (1.5-year-old Charolais). We also have five steers this year. All of which we have raised but two. I plan to go to 10 shows for my 10-year showing anniversary this year. I have counted the American Royal as one since we only brought calves from this year’s lineup. Next, we will go to Fort Worth, hopefully Houston, three spring shows, Kansas Junior Charolais Show, one or two national breed shows, county fair, possibly the Kansas State Fair and the Kansas Junior Livestock Show. Although that’s more than 10, not all are set in stone so I am confident that I will reach my goal. So far for me, 2019 has been a great year, and I hope that it continues to go well. I am considering this show year my last real year since I am going to college toward the end of the season, so I hope that it will be fruitful! 2019 will definitely be full of adventure and cool things, and I can’t wait to see what else comes from it.  Harley with her baby girl.
