A sixth-generation ranch youngster, she was born on the Gulf Coast of Texas, where her family raises Brahman cattle. She showed her share of them as a youth in FFA. The Wharton native attended Texas Tech University, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in animal science and ag education. Traveling to Colorado State University, Field earned her Master’s Degree in Agriculture. While there, she worked for the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, learning the ropes as a lobbyist. She did contract lobbying as well, ascertaining other industries. Field came to Nebraska seven years ago when her husband, Tom, became director of the University of Nebraska Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program. The move was a good one, putting her squarely in a position to join the Nebraska Cattle- men staff in Lincoln as vice president of legislative affairs. She spends about four days per week at the Nebraska State Capital while the Unicameral is in session; nearly all her work is interacting with state elected officials. She loves advocating for beef cattle producers. Field says it took some time to learn Nebraska’s laws, which differ greatly from those in Colorado. The couple has a set of six-year-old twins together, a boy and a girl, and the twins have three older brothers. Field loves to read a variety of books, cross-stitch and travel. Any ocean is fine with her, as well as exploring Middle America. Field says she’s determined to make a difference for cattle producers in the country who work hard and don’t have the time to travel to Lincoln to defend themselves. Her goal is to “promote, defend and fight for the industry.”  Brute Cattle Equipment/ Dodge Mfg.
