Duane began his beef industry career as the staff veterinar- ian at Monfort of Colorado in 1965. Over the next 32 years, he was manager of the feedlot division, group vice president and created and was CEO of Monfort Integrated Genetics. He also was president of Colorado Cattle Feeders Association and served on the National Cattlemen’s Association Board of Directors. He is survived by his wife, Colleen, and two children. EUGENE CARL HERRSCHER, 86, passed away Feb. 25 in Rockvale, Colo. Eugene served his country in the U.S. Army. In earlier years, he was a foreman in Feedlots in Arizona, Texas, and California, and became vice president of Great Plains Chemical Livestock and Supply. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and four children. DAVID LOWE , 78, passed away March 26. A graduate of Kansas State University, David lived out his dream in the farming, ranching and cattle feeding business. He is survived by his wife, Aliece, and three children. New Product National The Animal Agriculture Alliance has pro- moted Casey Kinler to director of membership and marketing. In her new position, Kinler will lead membership recruitment, member reten- tion and industry engagement strategy and execution for the Alliance, which is a nonprofit with the mission of bridging the communica- tion gap between farm and fork. Colorado James Pritchett has been named dean of the Colorado State University College of Agricul- tural Sciences and director of the Agricultural Experiment Station . Pritchett had been serving as interim dean since October, when Ajay Menon became president and CEO of the CSU Research Foundation . New Mexico PenPower Book Marketing Services and Rocking R Books announced that New Mexico author Connie Perez has received a third Mom’s Choice Gold® Award for her Rocking R Ranch picture books. Farming on the Rocking R Ranch is the third installment in the series to win the prestigious award. South Dakota The South Dakota Beef Industry Council is bringing back a new version of the South Dakota Beef Ambassador program. The state and national Beef Ambassador programs discon- tinued several years ago. The Beef Ambassador leadership opportunity is for youth ages 5 to 18. Company Blue Grass Stockyards and Top Dollar Angus are collaborat- ing around a shared vision to significantly expand the number of Top Dollar Angus-verified cattle east of the Mississippi River. The goal is to utilize existing genetic technology to reduce feeder cattle procurement risk while increasing cow-calf producer profits. As part of the arrangement, Blue Grass field personnel will represent, service and promote all Top Dollar Angus-verified cattle east of the Mississippi. Zoetis has acquired Performance Livestock Analytics to enhance its animal health solutions across the continuum of care for beef producers. The addition of Performance Live- stock Analytics, a technology company that simplifies data and analytics for the livestock industry, will help Zoetis to accelerate progress in precision livestock farming and improve sustainability of producers’ operations. Huvepharma Receives FDA-Approval for Optigrid ® 45 Global animal health company Huvepharma® has received FDA-approval for Optigrid® 45, a feed additive used to promote weight gain and improve feed efficiency in finishing feedlot cattle. Optigrid® 45, which is comprised of the active ingredient ractopamine hydrochloride, is a bio-equivalent product to Optaflexx®. It can be fed as a complete feed or top dress feed to cattle fed in confinement during the last 28 to 48 days on feed prior to harvest.
