The industrious rancher is a former Miss Rodeo Nebraska and an integral part of the Pitzer Ranch at Ericson. She is also a former college athlete, having held volleyball scholarships at McCook and Hastings Colleges while working toward degrees in elementary and art education, and coaching. Brinkman married Jim in 1980 and the couple raised two chil- dren, Sarah and Sam. They are now grown with children of their own, all living on the Pitzer ranch and fully occupied with diversified ranch work. Their business encompasses 500 registered Angus cows and holds an annual bull sale in mid-March. The family also hosts two registered renown Quarter Horse sales each year in the spring and fall. The Pitzer Ranch runs 350 mares and is one of the premier Quarter Horse breeders in the United States. After 35 years of nonstop office work, Brinkman stepped back from her desk to pursue a couple of other challenges. She’s enjoyed purchasing a home, making major improve- ments and “flipping” the dwelling for a profit. She’s also helped other folks revamp and sell three houses in nearby Ord. Brinkman’s most obvious joy, however, has been raising Boer goats, a specie and breed she can handle all by herself. The successful entrepreneur is fresh from the American Boer Goat Association’s National Show, where she exhibited the Reserve National Champion 12- to 16-month buck. She is grateful for a talented, hardworking husband and her devoted parents. Always feeling better when working outdoors, Brinkman’s advises,“Find your passion and continue with the hard work it takes to be good at it.” Oct. 4-19 Santa Gertrudis World Congress 2019 Five-State Tour www.santagertrudiswc2019.com Oct. 10-13 American Akaushi Assn.
