At Phibro, when we acquire a business we look at it not only from the business benefits, but also from the employee perspective. In April 2015, Phibro Animal Health Corporation acquired the assets of the Western Yeast Company, and from that, Cellerate Yeast Solutions® was born. Eighty-year history The Cellerate Yeast Solutions product line is rooted in a deep history and tradition of excellent quality fermentation products. This history started in 1932, when Edward W. Newhaven, DVM at Cal-Tech, devel- oped a liquid and solid fermentation process to produce yeast culture products. He built his first manufacturing plant, Western Yeast Company, in North Central Illinois in 1947, where it remains today. The business has been maintained with its rich heritage to uphold the founder’s process of manufacturing fermentation products for over 80 years. When Phibro Animal Health Cor- poration purchased the business in 2015, Phibro incorporated its outstanding quality control and manufacturing processes to build upon the deep history and tradition of Dr. Newhaven’s yeast culture fermentation process. With Phibro being a lead- ing provider of animal nutrition and health solutions, a new brand for the trusted product lineup was developed.
