That Old Cow

Yeah, her ribs show a bit,
And she’s looking kind of thin,
But she’s had a calf every year
Since back in 2010.

She’s still got all her teeth
Although some might call her old.
Born right here on this place
One winter in the cold.

She ain’t seen much else but drought
Through all her 16 years.
There were times she looked so bad
It dang near brought me tears.

We’ve held on when times were tough
And some years mighty thin.
There were times I wouldn’t want
To go through ever again.

You say I should get rid of her,
Buy something younger now,
But I tell you son, you’ve got it wrong,
That’s one money-making cow!
