Beef Empire Days 55 Years and Going Strong

By Betty Jo Gigot  Publisher

It has it all … a live cattle show, cattle working contest, rodeo and a cattle crawl, along with a parade themed “Nothing satisfies like beef – We ‘Steak’ our future on it!” The Mary Hopkins Award went to Pat Koons, long-time supporter of Kansas livestock, and the parade grand marshal was local favorite Keith Downer. Congratulations to Garden City for another job well done.

Kelly Bruns, Ph.D., judged the Merck Animal Health Live Show.

First place at the Ranch Rodeo was Rockin RC.

Beef is always what’s for dinner at Beef Empire Days events.
Enjoying yourself is a requirement if you’re attending Beef Empire Days. In it’s 55th year, the event celebrates the beef industry and all it means to the communities in the “Great Beef Empire.”
